A snapshot of today’s older adults…
The number of Americans aged 65 and older is projected to double from 46 million to more than 98 million by 2060. Below are the current stats that relate to the current aging population.
55.8 million elderly adults in the U.S. (65 or older). 1.3 million live in nursing homes, representing 2.3% of the elderly population.
An additional 818,800 elderly Americans reside in assisted living facilities. The rest live in their own home
92% of older adults have at least one chronic condition, and 77% have two or more. Chronic conditions — heart disease, cancer, stroke, and diabetes — cause almost two thirds of all deaths among individuals 65+ each year.
36 million falls are reported each year meaning that 1 out 4 older adults will fall in the United States. This makes falls a public health concern, particularly among the aging population. Falls lead to a range of other concerns, from health related to increased risk in the home.

The Founder
enkel.life founder Chris has been a social worker since 2012 with experience in community based services and government roles. He landed in aged care support which taps into his own interest of homemaking that supports healthy living.
He has been in the aged care space for over 7 years where he has been challenged to learn and understand what the aging population need to continue to living independently in their own home. The main focus of this role has been to reduce the risks that leads to seniors entering a nursing home.
This eventually led him to create enkel.life to simplify the information that is out there for carers who find themselves in a complex and emotionally challenging environment trying to support their own aging family member or elderly loved one.
Chris completed a Bachelor of Human Services and Master of Social Work in 2012.
